Characteristics of Suzhou Embroidery

Su embroidery has a history of more than 2,000 years. Su embroidery, also known as Suzhou embroidery, originated in Wu County, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and has a history of more than 2,000 years. According to "Shuo Yuan", as early as the Spring and Autumn Period, there were "embroidered clothes and leopard furs" in the Wu State area (now southern Jiangsu Province), indicating that embroidery was already used in clothing at that time. During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhao, the wife of Sun Quan of Wu, was good at embroidery. She could embroider patterns such as mountains, rivers, and cities on square silk, and was called "needle master". The earliest existing Su embroidery objects came from the Song Dynasty, showing that Suzhou's economy was prosperous at that time and embroidery was widely popular. The fragments of Su embroidery in the Yuan Dynasty show that a variety of embroidery needles were used at that time. In the Ming Dynasty, Su embroidery was famous for its local characteristics of "fineness, elegance and clarity". In the Qing Dynasty, Su embroidery reached its peak, and exquisite double-sided embroidery and other techniques emerged. Suzhou embroidery is famous for its fine needlework, delicate craftsmanship and elegant artistic style. In particular, the color matching of Suzhou embroidery is soft and rich. Different colors are often superimposed through fine needlework to form a gradient effect with a stronger sense of layering. Each product takes at least 120 hours to make and 20 fine stitches to present a realistic visual effect.

Today, AQPA finds true meaning and aesthetic pursuit in this craft, which is the most authentic expression of humanity and creativity, and is therefore of vital importance to us.
